Victory! July 15, 2008

We have been working on potty-training Caleb since last Thursday.  He got the idea pretty fast (we tried a couple months ago, so he picked it up again) so Friday we went to underwear.  Well, Sunday we were gone a lot, and I kept taking him to try, and told him to tell his teachers at church, but you know that takes a while.  Well, yesterday we had to do a few errands as well.  He and Grace had a dr. appointment, and we tried to go there but he never goes on a big toilet without a smaller seat.  Well, by the time we got to church to hang out he had gone in his pull-up.  After his nap, I reminded him that he needed to tell mommy if he had to go potty, and about 2 minutes later he said he had to go.  The church has a little potty, so that was what he wanted to use, and did.  Later, when we were in Overland Park signing some paperwork, he said he had to go potty.  I doubted he would, since all they had were full-size toilets, but he DID!!  Yeah!!  So, I think we have now gotten over that hurdle (and he had a diaper on the whole time, too).

Now, for my readers without kids, sorry for the next portion.  I have been just mentioning to him about pooping in the toilet too, after cleaning a few pairs of underwear!  Well, last night, when running around without underwear on he said he had to poop.  (Caleb right now likes to completely take off his underwear when going potty, so he just  hadn’t gotten them back on yet.)  I told him to try to go on the toilet, and at first he said no, but then he ran to the bathroom.  A couple minutes later I hear him get down and he says  “Mommy, come see!”  So I come, and he pooped in the toilet.  So, once again, we cheered yeah!!  He then told Josh that there were “rocks” in the toilet.  Hee-hee

Alas, and did my Saviour bleed? July 12, 2008

Alas, and did my saviour bleed, and did my sovereign die?
Would he devote that sacred head for such a worm as I?
Was it for crimes that I had done, he groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity, grace unknown, and love beyond degree.

My God, why would you shed your blood,
So pure and undefiled,
To make a sinful one like me
Your chosen, precious child?

Well might the sun in darkness hide, and shut His glories in
When Christ, the mighty maker, died for man, the creature’s, sin.
Thus might I hide my blushing face while his dear cross appears.
Dissolve my heart in thankfulness, and melt my eyes to tears.

My God, why would you shed your blood,
So pure and undefiled,
To make a sinful one like me
Your chosen,  precious child.

Thank you, God, for your amazing gift.  I am not worthy, but oh so grateful!
