Oh Happy Day! April 28, 2008

Today is a very happy day.  Probably one of the happiest days of my married life.  Not the happiest, but I must say that it ranks very high.  What has caused this supreme happiness?  Let me enlighten you…

About two months ago, we began a kitchen renovation.  No it is not finished yet, so this is not the cause of this extreme happiness, but it coordinates with it.  Josh first tore out the soffets, and then he became the assistant pastor at Faith Baptist Church, so things were put on hold.  A couple of weeks ago, he sheet-rocked the wall and ceiling behind the soffets, mudded the seams, and scraped the ugly popcorn ceiling.  However, due to the ceiling being previously painted, it did not scrape cleanly, and we had to skim-coat the entire ceiling, and then sand it, before applying the knockdown spray.  Well, due to a house appraisal coming, this weekend we made a major dent.

I started repainting the cabinets, Josh put crown molding on the top of cabinets, and started it around the kitchen/dining room.  Then, today, my dad came to help.  Why?  Well, the reason for my udder happiness, of course!!  We installed a dishwasher, new countertop, sink, faucet, track ceiling light, and garbage disposal.  Now, some of you know this, but I have not had a dishwasher since we bought our house, 4 1/2 years ago.  Over a year ago my garbage disposal stopped working, so I have been without that.  It is like Christmas!!  I think that this is the first night that I will go to bed without dishes sitting in the sink or on the countertop waiting to be washed.  Complete happiness!!

The kitchen and dining room will look so wonderful - I now can see the future.  There is still more work to do:  lots of painting, finish the crown, change other counters, tile backsplash, pendant light, and ceiling fan.  But, that will come, and probably pretty quickly due to the appraisal.  Yippee!!  I will include pictures at the end, because it is right now still messy.

Garage Sale April 25, 2008

Today, I am sitting here in the garage, watching our garage sale.  I have been here for 2 hours so far, only 4 more to go!!  We have done pretty good so far, most of our big ticket items have been sold, which makes more room in our garage - just what we need!!  As I sit here, pretty much doing nothing, I decided that if I brought the lap-top down I could at least play a little.  So, here I am, blogging about nothing.  I still need to do the song list for May, but that is done easiest without the computer to start.  I kinda hate sitting here doing nothing, because I know that there are many other things that I could be doing, like painting, cleaning, washing dishes, and so forth.  But, I guess I should just enjoy an excuse to just sit here.

Sickness April 15, 2008

The last three days Caleb has been sick.  He has had a fever of 99.5-100, and has been coughing with a runny nose.  With this being the case, he has been extremely cuddly.  For those who know him, he has always been a cuddler.  But now, being sick, this is all he wants to do.  Now, while I do love cuddling with him, by the end of day number three I am ready for this to be over!!  I have not been able to do much of anything, because the moment I put him down he starts to cry and whine, and begs for mommy to please pick him up, or “hold me and stand” as he puts it.

I am thankful that this is the first sickness he has had this year - we have been able to avoid almost everything else.  Josh was sick a couple of months ago, but Caleb never caught it thankfully.  Hopefully this will all be over soon.

Potty training April 6, 2008

I am in need of potty training suggestions, from the very beginning.  I think Caleb is ready to start trying, and I have heard many suggestions, but I am not sure what would be a good way to start the “project.”  Anyone have any ideas?

Oh, and for a kitchen update, Josh got the ceiling and wall sheetrocked above the cabinets, and scraped the ceiling.  After he muds the patch work, he has to respray the ceiling, and then it will be my turn to take over.  I did start staining my end tables, but it will take many coats to get them like I really like them.

Sorry, this post is kinda boring.  My brain isn’t functioning too well right now.

I’m Back! April 4, 2008

Ok, so it has been a while since I have written anything here.  March has been a CRAZY month!!  But now, the musical is over, and life is kinda getting back to normal, so I will try to start writing once again.  There are many projects that I need to get done before baby Grace comes, so I have decided that I need to pick a “project” for each day.  For example, Wednesday I went to pick up a kitchen table and chairs; Thursday I taped Josh’s office at church for painting; today I am going to finish sanding, and reassemble the end tables that I am refinishing.  I also need to head to Walmart, and work on sweatshirts. 

So, this was a boring blog post, but hopefully there will be better things to come!
